I watched Lured for the first time, I enjoyed it. I wondered how often elements of higher culture come into noir films. Here I was interested to see the poet Baudelaire referred to in the movie where his work served as a kind of key. Baudelaire is interesting because he was an urban flaneur who saw the underbelly and also translated Poe into french.

I have seen Hangover Square, the Guy Fawkes day element was brilliant. I smiled when I saw Alfred, Batman’s butler. Detour has a mention of the great pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

Great thought, Kevin. “Hangover Square” is about a composer/pianist who enters a murderous fugue state on occasion. It’s a master work, including one of the most dramatic climaxes in noir, set in a concert hall. Check it out if you can.
